With more than 35 years of robust K-12 experience and an unwavering commitment to our nation’s youth, Vanir understands just how much is at stake when it comes to successfully planning and delivering capital programs and projects. To date, we have managed over 1,200 modernization and new construction projects for 160 public, independent, charter and tribal school districts with a combined construction value $5.4 billion. Community Colleges

Community colleges are a critical part of the higher education system. With more than 1,000 public and private two-year institutions nationwide, they enroll nearly half of all college students and provide educational opportunities that may otherwise be out of reach. Benefits include:

  • Affordability – Community colleges offer many of the classes required by four-year universities, but at a fraction of the cost. They also offer scholarships and financial aid that can help reduce the cost even further.
  • Flexibility – Community colleges are designed to provide maximum flexibility for “non-traditional” students who are older, have children or are already part of the workforce and need to balance school with family and career obligations. This means that they offer night classes, once-a-week degree programs and condensed coursework to ensure students a wide range of options for completing their courses and degrees.
  • Personalized attention – Community colleges tend to have smaller class sizes, which lead to increased opportunities for more personalized instruction from professors.
  • Specialized programs and transfer agreements – Community colleges offer a wide variety of courses that prepare students to transfer to four-year colleges and universities, provide workforce training or simply enrich their lives through learning. Many community colleges also have admissions agreements with public colleges that allow qualified students to transfer their credits toward earning a bachelor’s degree.

We prefer to engage at the beginning of a program or project, working collaboratively with all stakeholders to create and implement detailed construction plans. These plans often include coordinating and performing challenging construction and renovation processes within occupied spaces, which requires specialized expertise to identify and mitigate risk; ensure student, faculty, community and project team safety; and minimize construction impacts such as dust and noise. Vanir reconciled the University’s insurance issues with FEMA resulting in a risk elimination of over $40 million. In addition to reducing risk to the University, the Vanir team successfully increased funding in excess of $15 million.
