Tacoma Public Schools – Grant Center for the Expressive Arts

Project overview

The Grant Center for the Expressive Arts is an arts-focused, single-story elementary school serving a population of 450 Pre-K through fifth grade students. Vanir provided project management and construction management services for the demolition of an existing school and construction of this new school. Our team facilitated the interim move of the staff and students to another elementary campus during the construction phase, and subsequent move into the new facility.

Vanir’s community outreach program manager partnered with Tacoma Public Schools, the general contractor and the city of Tacoma to facilitate engagement from local and small minority- and women-owned businesses (MWBE), in addition to supporting other community-focused activities. We provided substantial MWBE advising to our subconsultants and the general contractor’s subcontractors through all phases of the project.

Vanir was honored to work on such an inspirational school where students have access to dance, music and art rooms, as well as the opportunity to learn in theater-style seating.
