South County Detention Facility

Project overview

Vanir’s construction management services were instrumental in delivering the new South County Detention Facility, which houses a maximum of 519 inmates in a modern pod design. The building is equipped with a medical center, administration center, visitation center and kitchen.

Designed to provide the safest environment for detention officers and inmates, the facility has a state-of-the-art security electronics system and 172 cameras. The housing pods consist of four units branching off of one control panel.

Vanir’s value engineering saves $14 million

The Vanir team took a project that was $14 million over budget and helped redesign it with the architect to reduce costs, all while keeping the same design schedule. The project finished below budget.
