Santa Monica Community College District Early Childhood Lab School

Project overview

Vanir provided program, project and construction management services for the Santa Monica Community College District’s Early Childhood Lab School (ECLS) project. Located at Santa Monica College, the 24,099-square-foot, multi-use facility enables teachers in-training to develop crucial expertise under the guidance of leading education professionals. It provides childcare for up to 110 children and serves as a resource for the Santa Monica community. The facility consists of three structures, (one two-story building and two single-story buildings), on an approximately 60,480-square-foot site.

Vanir’s change order negotiations saved costs

Vanir successfully negotiated down 40% of total change orders that had been submitted — resulting in capping the total change cost at 6%, despite work being performed during the COVID-19 pandemic, with material escalations and difficulties procuring materials and labor.
