San Mateo County Maple Street Correctional Facility

Project overview

Vanir provided construction management services for San Mateo County’s Maple Street Correctional Facility, which houses a large 832-bed inmate program that focuses on offering useful training and counseling to help inmates reintegrate into the community successfully.

The project included the initial remediation of a 4.8-acre brownfield site and demolition of existing structures to prepare for a new 257,000-square-foot building. Key additions included enhanced natural light and ventilation, artwork, top-notch staff amenities and major sustainability measures that enabled the facility to achieve LEED Gold certification.

Vanir’s construction management services included coordinating daily field operations for the project, periodic constructability/peer reviews and change order analysis. In addition, Vanir assisted with the specialized scope of the detention security system and commissioning of the mechanical, electrical and plumbing installation.
