Salton Sea Management Program

Project overview

Vanir is providing advisory services to the California Department of Water Resources’ Division of Engineering’s (DOE) Salton Sea Management Program (SSMP). The California Natural Resources Agency, the California Department of Water Resources and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife are implementing the SSMP to address air quality and ecological threats at the Salton Sea.

Vanir is providing guidance through engineering expertise specific to the SSMP design-build contracts to support ongoing construction contract development, construction management with MWD Constructors and construction for the Species Conservation Habitat project and SSMP. We will assist the DOE with review of design-build engineering, contract and construction process and procedures.

Essential to implementing the projects, Vanir is also collaborating closely with local, state and federal agencies, including Imperial County, Riverside County, Imperial Irrigation District, Imperial County Air Pollution Control District, the Salton Sea Authority, Colorado River Basin Regional Water Quality Control Board, the State Water Resources Control Board, the California Air Resources Board, the South Coast Air Quality Management District, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, the U.S. Bureau of Land Management and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
