Sacramento International Airport – Terminal B Parking Garage

Project overview

Vanir, as part of a joint venture (JV) with Parsons Corporation, is providing construction management services for a new Terminal B Parking Garage at Sacramento International Airport (SMF). This project is part of the SMForward Program, a major expansion initiative to support SMF’s growth and modernization efforts. The new parking garage will replace the existing 750-space Hourly B Lot, and include at least the maximum of 5,500 close-in parking spaces, while maintaining the architectural style of the existing airport structures.

Targeting Park SMART Gold certification, the design for the new parking garage features:

  • The use of a post-tensioned elevated slab system, enhancing structural efficiency and durability
  • A perforated metal panel system that integrates custom artwork to add a unique and visually engaging element to the structure

From the outset, the Parsons-Vanir JV provided critical insight and support to help define and implement best practices to effectively manage key project elements. In addition, they continue to support the Executive Program Manager and the client with workflow solutions and implementing program management information systems, while also coordinating field inspections.

Supporting expanding operations

To support the development of the new parking garage, the Parsons-Vanir JV will also be responsible for constructing a new Parking Administration building to manage operations for both the new garage and existing parking facilities across the airport campus.
