Ricardo Flores Magón Academy

Project overview

Vanir provided project management services, including assisting with the BEST Grant application, for Ricardo Flores Magón Academy (RFMA). Through the BEST Grant, the K-8 school received a new, 33,000-square-foot facility, built on the existing playground. The project included asbestos abatement and demolition of the previous facility. Vanir’s services for this K-8 school replacement project included:

  • Working with RFMA and the master planning architect to submit the BEST Grant application, including crafting the language as well as in-depth assembly of the contractor scope, estimates and subsequent completion of the detailed project budget
  • Assisting the school with identifying other funding opportunities to provide its required financial match for the BEST Grant
  • Providing programming and design phase management, overseeing the prequalification/selection of the design team and the contractor and managing the RFP process and contract negotiations
  • Managing the move to a new building, asbestos abatement/demolition of the existing facility and subsequent site development

We chose to work with Vanir because they were clear and focused on the importance of having construction not interfere with our day-to-day activities. They have done just that…Vanir has been answering questions, ensuring that they are representing us as best they can and making sure that we are able to focus on schooling.
