Queen Creek Road Improvements

Project overview

Vanir provided project and construction management services for the City of Chandler for the expansion of Queen Creek Road. The project involved rebuilding four miles of the road and expanding it from two to three lanes in each direction. The project also included:

  • Paving and striping of new lanes and adding left turn lanes, dedicated right turn lanes and bike lanes
  • Jack and bore under a major business intersection and Union Pacific Railway; reconstruction of existing medians and construction of new, narrower medians; and installing new landscaped, divided medians
  • Progressive use of reclaimed water for irrigation of the median landscaping for entire four miles
  • Traffic signal installations with fiber optic interconnect upgrade and new railroad crossing and signals
  • 150 new street lights

Communication was key to success

Vanir was responsible for the public relations component of the project. This included maintaining a project website and emergency hotline, sending out monthly electronic newsletters to local newspapers, residents and businesses and hand delivering notices and newsletters during complex construction stages at major intersections.
