Project overview

The Louisiana Children’s Museum (LCM) selected Vanir to provide construction management services for its new location in City Park. The Certified LEED Gold museum is located on 8.5 acres of land. It offers indoor and outdoor learning space focusing on literacy, STEM, health and wellness, the environment, arts and culture. It includes an edible garden, kitchen and cafe.

Vanir played an important role in the effective cost management of this project from our beginning involvement through the final stages of construction and closeout. When bids were submitted in early 2017, the lowest bidder was $2.1 million over the project budget. Our team was key to moving the project into construction by leading the contractor, architect and LCM through an effective value engineering process that lowered the project cost by over 7 percent.

We are honored to have been part of this new facility that will better the lives of thousands of children and promote sustainability.

Vanir worked tirelessly with LCM, the low bid contractor and the architectural team to value engineer the building and negotiate a change order that was fair to all parties and brought the project back into LCM’s budget.
