Vanir played a key role in delivering the multi-award-winning Las Colinas Detention and Reentry Facility (LCDRF). Financed in part by a State of California jail grant, this unique campus formed a new way to rehabilitate inmates, while providing a safe, secure, durable, and low maintenance structure.
The LCDRF sits on a 45-acre site, housing all classification levels, including: 1,216 minimum, medium, and maximum security beds; 32 mental health beds; and 22 medical patient beds. The facility accommodates space for visitation, inmate programs, staff services, inmate receiving and transfer, administration, property storage, and a warehouse.
As the County’s first major design-build project and jail in over a decade, Vanir provided the right skillset to deliver expert knowledge in jail design, construction, and design-build management.
Making it a priority to ensure every voice was heard, the Vanir team created an effective system to collect and resolve a total of 1,017 end user comments.
“Vanir staff…never lost sight of end user requirements and goals, and was a tireless advocate on behalf of the owner.”
Jody Mays, Director, Support Services, San Diego County Sheriff’s Department
