James A. Musick Facility Jail Expansion – Phase I and II

Project overview

Vanir is providing pre-construction, construction management and commissioning services for a new jail on the existing James A. Musick Facility Jail site.

The new facility is designed as a stand-alone jail and includes a 512-bed building with an administration component and a 384-bed program building. It will have all components necessary to serve the needs of the inmates, including kitchen, housing, programming, administrative, reception and medical facilities. The project also includes a new stand-alone warehouse and central plant buildings. Construction is taking place on the operational, medium-security jail campus.

This project is funded through AB900, SB1022 and the County of Orange. The master plan includes a potential site expansion to house nearly 7,000 additional inmates.

Vanir’s team facilitated design reviews with the client and the architects, and is currently advising the client on all aspects of construction and contract administration. Our services also consist of special inspections and testing, as well as collaborative construction partnering.
