Highline Public Schools – Glacier Middle School

Project overview

Vanir served as the program, project and construction manager for Highline Public Schools’ 2016 Capital Bond Program, which included construction of the new 142,000-square-foot Glacier Middle School. It was built on an existing school site and the project involved demolition of the existing closed school and construction of the new middle school, which included new utilities, a storm retention system, turf sports field/track and districtwide food service facilities.

The design-bid-build project went to bid during a hot construction market. Multiple tight bids were received below budget as a result of Vanir’s marketing efforts with general contractors and subcontractors. Vanir’s role included significant collaboration with Seattle’s utilities departments and local jurisdictions, as well as guiding the District through the State of Washington’s Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) funding and claim processes.
