Grant County Public Utility District No. 2 Electrical Substations

Project overview

Vanir provided project and construction management for the Grant County Public Utility District (PUD) No. 2 Electrical Substations project, designing and constructing eight electrical substations. The scope of work included modifying and expanding five existing substations, building two new substations and repairing another existing substation. Grant County PUD utilized an alternative contracting method – progressive design-build – to address a five-year backlog, successfully completing all infrastructure upgrades within 17 months.

Vanir’s predesign services included supporting the District in selecting the optimal delivery method, initiating project setup and drafting justification documentation. We also delivered an interview presentation to the Project Review Committee (PRC), responsible for approving public entity projects in Washington State that utilize alternative delivery methods. In addition, Vanir provided site inspection services during the construction phase of each substation.
