Dallas Independent School District

Program overview

Dikita \\ Vanir, a joint venture, is providing program management services for Dallas Independent School District’s 2015 Bond Program. It is the first time in history that this District has awarded program management services to a minority-led team. The $1.6 billion districtwide program is addressing renovations, additions, and new facility needs for educational, administrative, and athletic facilities. Our scope of work at each campus includes the predesign, design, procurement, construction, closeout, and warranty phases.

Our team is currently managing $135 million of construction for Phase 1, which consists of renovations and additions at three high schools, three elementary schools, and a magnet secondary school. Our work for Phases 2-5 is anticipated to be in excess of $380 million across 192 campuses, and will include renovations, additions, and new construction.

Real-time program collaboration

The District was using an analog process for design review, which involved printing and distributing each phase of design to the A/E, program management firm, and District stakeholders. Comments were being lost in the shuffle and the District was in need of a more efficient system. Dikita \\ Vanir implemented Bluebeam REVU, a cloud-based collaborative PDF program, where comments are tracked in real time, resulting in quicker turnaround times and better program-wide accountability.
