Project overview
Vanir provided project and construction management services to the Department of General Services (DGS) for the California African American Museum, located within Exposition Park in Los Angeles, California. Our scope of work included:
- Renovating five art galleries, four storage rooms, the conference center, break area and library
- Re-finishing wood floors in three galleries
- Re-weatherizing the atrium glass
- Upgrading the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system, including reinforcing roof supports for new AC units
- Implementing sound reduction measures
- Re-roofing of the existing museum building
- Upgrading the audio-visual equipment
- Upgrading the security system with video surveillance, access control, intrusion detection, public announcement and video intercom systems, as well as replacing door hardware
- Modifying two existing rooms into a security control room and an equipment storage room
- Replacing three existing double doors due to hardware modifications
