Ben Franklin Elementary School

Project overview

Vanir, as part of a joint venture (JV) with CBRE | Heery, provided daily project management and inspection services for the Ben Franklin Elementary Science and Mathematics School Renovations Phase II project, a FEMA-funded project. Our JV team was brought onboard three months into construction.

The scope of work included:

  • Dismantle and reconstruction of the three-story, 106-year-old building
  • Renovation of the interior framing and envelope (brick and mortar, windows and flashing were addressed)
  • Restoration of the floors, stairwells, doors and molding
  • Addition of an elevator to enable special needs students full access
  • Installation of a new HVAC and fire sprinkler systems and upgrading the kitchen facility

The joint venture team really was outstanding in terms of establishing a culture of collaboration and understanding the importance of updating finishes, furniture and equipment while preserving the historical aspects of the building.
