Ben Franklin Elementary School

Project overview

The joint venture of CBRE|Heery & Vanir provided project management and inspection services for the Ben Franklin Elementary Science and Mathematics School Renovations Phase II project, which was a FEMA-funded project. Our joint venture team was brought onboard three months into construction and we provided daily on-site project management and inspection services. The scope of work included:

  • Dismantling the three-story, 106-year-old building down to its studs and reconstructing it
  • Renovating the interior framing and envelope (brick and mortar, windows and flashing were addressed)
  • Restoring the floors, stairwells, doors and molding
  • Adding an elevator to enable special needs students to have full access
  • Installing new HVAC and fire sprinkler systems and upgrading the kitchen facility

The joint venture team really was outstanding in terms of establishing a culture of collaboration and understanding the importance of updating finishes, furniture and equipment while preserving the historical aspects of the building.
