Leslie Barrett serves as Vanir’s Vice President and Executive Director of Water, Energy and Sustainability. In this role, Leslie maintains management and strategic focus for the successful pursuit, strategy, marketing, contracts and acquisition of new water and energy business. He also leads Vanir’s sustainability strategies and initiatives and oversees our energy efficiency and renewable energy sustainability projects across the U.S.
With more than 35 years of diversified design; construction; and program, project and construction management experience, Leslie has led a variety of multi-million-dollar projects for public and private sector clients in the water, energy, education (K-12 and higher), justice and essential services, state and local government and transportation market sectors.
Leslie is a certified Design-Build Professional and a licensed attorney and Professional Engineer in the state of California. He uses these credentials to promote land development, permitting, engineering, construction and environmental mitigation projects involving the California Environmental Quality Act and the National Environmental Policy Act. Also, the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, the California Department of Fish & Wildlife, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Air Quality Management District, the U.S. Department of Defense and the U.S. Forestry Service.
Leslie holds a Master of Business Administration from Pepperdine University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from University College Dublin. He was also a past chairman and member of the U.S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Land Management Desert Advisory Council.
