Jerry Avalos joined the Vanir team in 1999. Fast forward 25 years, and he now serves as our President and Northern California Area Manager. As an accomplished management executive with the ability to balance strategic decisions and financial discipline with a hands-on approach to leadership – resulting in strong employee, client and project team satisfaction, he is responsible for serving as project executive on multi-$100 million dollar capital projects, contract negotiations, Area and project team development, business development and increasing company visibility for growth.
Jerry is an engaging communicator and relationship builder with expertise in management and organizational structure planning and uses his more than 25 years of program, project and construction management experience on small and large complex construction projects – including those taking place in active/occupied facilities – for project success. He is skilled in preparing management strategies for planning and scheduling, organization, contracts and specifications, construction inspection, construction safety and estimating, as well as equipment and methodology. Jerry is also an expert in the design of concrete and steel construction and possesses a keen understanding of geotechnical issues.
He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo and served as an Aviation Electrician in the U.S. Navy for two years. He is also a Certified Construction Manager, a LEED Accredited Professional and an Engineer-in-Training, as well as a proud member of the Construction Management Association of America and the U.S. Green Building Council.
