Dallas Independent School District Solar Preparatory School for Girls

Project overview

Dikita\\Vanir, a joint venture, is providing program management services for the Dallas Independent School District’s 2015 Bond Program. Together we delivered the Solar Preparatory School for Girls (Solar Prep) project. It consisted of a two-story addition to an existing school facility. Features include:

  • 15 new classrooms
  • Storm shelter cafetorium
  • Music and art learning spaces
  • Science lab and robotics lab
  • Gymnasium and administrative area
  • Outdoor gardens

We provided extensive programming assistance during design, as the District did not have current education model programs in place that met the unique needs of the campus and its educational goals.

The project team coordinated the design and construction around some unique challenges, including an urban site, an historic structure that was built in 1923, and a school that was occupied and operated during construction.
