Project overview
Vanir provided project and construction management services to renovate the City of Citrus Heights Police Department’s aging Emergency Communications Center (ECC). Enhancing and updating the workspace to improve operational efficiency and support its mission of 24/7 public safety became the primary focus. The existing operations, staff, furniture, and communications equipment were relocated to a temporary dispatch space while the main ECC and supporting rooms underwent a full remodel, including adding a fifth dispatch workstation to allow for growth and enhance training and customer service. Additional upgrades included new network cabling, lighting fixtures, video walls, carpeting, acoustic wall coverings, kitchen cabinets, countertops, and appliances, as well as upgraded rooftop HVAC units, ductwork replacement, and restroom re-tiling.
Since the City didn’t have recent experience in soliciting A&E services or bidding a “building” project, Vanir assisted with the review and developed new contract templates, general conditions, and division 01 specifications for the A&E and general contractor solicitations. Other scope of work included constructability review, needs assessment, scheduling, and closeout.
Through the highly collaborative team of the City’s administration, police department, facilities, and IT staff; design consultants; multiple contractors; and the owner’s specialty furniture, fixtures, and equipments vendors, the ECC renovation project was delivered on-time in under two months and under budget.
