In 2016, Vanir proudly joined forces with Maricopa Integrated Health System (MIHS), now known as Valleywise Health, after being awarded the initial contract to provide integrated program management (IPMO) services for the $935 million, seven-year program. Over the first three months, we developed a detailed scope of work, including defining key projects, target budgets, and infrastructure improvements; sequencing phases; and establishing public outreach strategies.
By 2017, site trailers were set up to support the owner-led IMPO and provide dedicated conference rooms for hospital staff to engage in program development meetings. Together with our subconsultant, Blue Cottage, Vanir facilitated meetings to discuss workflows and process improvements with all hospital staff. This initiative, branded as “Care Reimagined,” promoted a sense of pride, enthusiasm, and ownership among the client and staff.
An early program success, Vanir begins work on all phases from concept to occupancy in only 13 months to open the upgraded facility, which restored emergency services and added 192 beds to a decommissioned 1960s hospital, eliminating Phoenix’s behavioral health bed shortage.

While managing the accelerated Maryvale renovation, Vanir oversees construction of a new three-story facility in an underserved “medical desert” to improve access and reduce travel constraints for patients reliant on public transit for appointments.
Completed April 2020
Vanir begins construction management on three of four 26,000-27,000-sf templated facilities (featuring pharmacy and lab space, exam rooms, and family learning and support centers). The standardized design ensured schedule and budget adherence, despite COVID-related challenges.
Vanir initiates four major renovations to the fully active, 24/7 behavioral health facility, carefully coordinating mechanical, plumbing, and electrical shutdowns to maintain uninterrupted patient services.
Completed November 2021
Utility needs analysis showed re-sequencing the new CUP to serve the existing campus while the Medical Center was being designed could save $500K/year in energy. By repurposing a 40,000-sf warehouse, Vanir further added savings, totaling $2M in energy and $335K in utility rebates.
Completed May 2021
