San Mateo County Maple Street Correctional Facility

Project overview

The Maple Street Correctional Facility project included the initial remediation of a 4.8-acre brownfield site and demolition of existing structures to prepare for a new 257,000-square-foot building. The facility houses a large inmate program with 832 beds, and focuses on providing useful training and counselling to prepare inmates for life outside of a correctional facility. The project includes several areas with natural light and ventilation, artwork, top-notch staff amenities and major sustainability features that enabled a LEED Gold certification for the facility.

Vanir’s construction management services included coordinating daily field operations for the project, periodic constructability/peer reviews and change order analysis. In addition, Vanir assisted with the specialized scope of the detention security system and commissioning of the mechanical, electrical and plumbing installation.
