Queen Creek Road Improvements

Vanir provided project and construction management for the City of Chandler. The project involved rebuilding four miles of Queen Creed Road, expanding it from two to three lanes in each direction between McQueen Road and Old Price Road. During the 15-months of construction, the project also included:

  • Paving and striping of new lanes
  • Adding left turn lanes, dedicated right turn lanes and bike lanes
  • Jack and bore under a major business intersection and Union Pacific Railway
  • Reconstruction of existing medians, and construction of new, narrower medians
  • Installing new landscaped divided medians and replacing old median landscaping
  • Progressive use of reclaimed water for irrigation of the median landscaping for entire four miles
  • Traffic signal installations with fiber optic interconnect upgrade
  • New railroad crossing and signals
  • Upgraded pedestrian ramps for ADA compliance
  • 150 new street lights

Communication was Key to Success

Vanir was also responsible for the public relations component of the project, which included maintaining a project Web site; emergency hotline; sending out monthly electronic newsletters to local newspapers, residents and businesses; and hand delivering notices and newsletters during complex construction stages at major intersections.
