Grant County Public Utility District No. 2 Electrical Substations

Project overview

The Grant County Public Utility District No. 2 (Grant County PUD) electrical substation project consisted of the design and construction of eight electrical substations. The scope of work included modifying/expanding five existing substations, building two new substations and repairing one substation. In order to alleviate a five-year backlog, Grant County PUD utilized an alternative contracting method, progressive design-build, to complete all infrastructure upgrades in 17 months.

Vanir’s pre-design services included supporting the District’s determination of the best delivery method and initial project setup, preparing justification documentation and providing an interview presentation to the Project Review Committee (PRC). The PRC is responsible for approving public entity projects in Washington State that utilize alternative delivery methods. During the construction phase of each substation, our team provided project management, construction management and site inspection services.
