The King Khalid Medical City (KKMC) broke ground this week with the initial site clearing! This is the first construction start for a Vanir project abroad. KKMC is the largest greenfield project of five integrated medical cities currently underway in the Saudi Kingdom. It is envisioned to be the leading center of excellence for tertiary referral healthcare in the Eastern Region, serving 7 million with focus on treatment, research and education.
Anchored by a 1500-bed hospital, KKMC will focus on delivering the highest quality, patient-centered and staff-friendly healing environment. It is expected to set a new standard for the delivery of complex healthcare for the residents of the Eastern Region with seven centers of excellence in cardiac sciences, neurosciences, metabolic and genetic disease, oncology, multi-organ transplantation, rehabilitation and ophthalmology. It will also include important sub-specialties to support the seven centers of excellence, including pediatric care, obstetric and reproductive services, long-term care, general medical and surgical services and a research center. Other aspects of the 70-acre development include provisions for residential, commercial, educational and recreational uses.
