Sound Transit Central Link Light Rail
Seattle, WA

As the major subconsultant to Bechtel, Vanir provided construction management services for the construction of 1.4 miles of light railway, composed of at grade, aerial and transition structures, a rail station and a light rail vehicle maintenance facility. The aerial structure crosses Airport Way South, 6th Avenue and the existing BNSF railroad in two places. The southern/eastern limit of the contract interfaces with the Beacon Hill light rail tunnel contract near the intersection of Forest Avenue and Airport Way South.

The scope included major ground improvement work, utility relocations and construction of a high voltage underground transmission.

The operation and maintenance facility, yard and support facilities were schedule-critical, as they were needed to receive, commission, test and stable light rail vehicles.
