Ontario International Airport
Ontario, CA

Vanir was selected to provide general construction management services for the airport's terminal expansion project as a subconsultant to the prime contractor. Vanir is one of several subcontractors that provided support for this project. The expansion consisted of several separate construction contracts, however the primary contracts were for the Landside and Airside Construction.

The Landside portion of the project consisted of construction of two new terminals for LAWA (Los Angeles World Airports) totaling about 530,000 square feet and having 26 aircraft gates. The buildings are steel structures with extensive precast concrete, plaster and glass exterior. Also included are three new parking lots with 4,900 parking spaces, circulation loop roads, widening and reconstruction of the primary road into the airport and a major drainage system. It is anticipated that the airport will serve up to 8 million passengers per year. The landside contractor's contract included construction of the steel structure for a 15,000 square foot Ground Transportation Center (GTC) to house all the rental car agencies at one location. The remaining portion of the building was bid as a separate contract, also administered by the CM.

The Airside improvements consisted mainly of construction of the concrete aprons, 5,000 feet of taxiways and 8,000 feet of service road, as well as a new drainage system. Included under the CM contract is construction of the jetways and interior luggage conveyors and coordination of the concessions/airlines/tenant improvements.
