North Gate - Terminal 18
Seattle, WA

This Design-Bid-Build project consisted of constructing a 12-Lane Heavy-traffic Truck Gate on Terminal 18, Harbor Island. The Gate includes eight truck scales and a three-story 6000 sf Administrative Building. The gate functions as either prime ingress or egress for the terminal. Also included in the scope was the demolition of two Radio Towers standing more than 300 feet.

Vanir served as Project Manager for the Port of Seattle, coordinating with Port staff; overseeing the design, advertisement, and award of the work; and coordinating with Port Engineering for the CM efforts.

Vanir developed scope and coordinated the removal of two Radio Towers on site and the remediation of environmental Hot Spots.

The project was complicated by the fact that Harbor Island is designated a "Superfund Site" by the EPA, and all excavation had to be performed by 40-hour qualified workers.

Vanir performed all contract change order negotiations with the designer for the Port. Vanir also developed checklists from existing Port information for use in evaluation of Design Development and Final Design.
