A Successful New Government Center
Vanir's design and construction management services led to the successful completion of this
new and expanded government center. The project includes a new city hall with council
chambers, a fire station, and an addition to the existing police station.
The new building is located on a site adjacent to the existing city hall. After the majority of the new facility was completed, the old city hall was demolished to make room for the new council chambers. The existing police station received an L-shaped addition and its exterior was given a new façade.
The Project Schedule Needed Special Attention
Numerous owner generated changes and careful coordination of the construction documents
created the potential for significant delay in the overall construction schedule. We quickly
recognized these issues and established that changes were negotiated in work-order
priority, and that the architect would participate in jobsite coordination meetings on a
daily basis. These two management adjustments resolved field conflicts in a timely manner.
Adding to the coordination issue was the fact that the existing Police Station building remained occupied during construction. The staff moved into the new facility while the existing building was being renovated. Planning the logistics was essential and successful.
Working with our Clients to Meet their Needs
"Their work was excellent; they fit very well into our city's needs and worked with us
in a way that made sense for our organization."
