Conejo Valley Unified School District Modernization and New Construction Program
Thousand Oaks, CA

Successful Long-Term Client Relationship
In 1997, the Conejo Valley Unified School District selected Vanir to provide construction management services on two 400-seat performing arts centers that were designed by separate architects. These projects were constructed using the cm/trade contracting method. Based on Vanir's performance on the two centers (both completed with less than 2% change orders), Vanir was chosen to manage the modernization and new construction program for the district, which began in 1999 after the voter approval of a $80 million local bond issue.

For the modernization and new construction program, Vanir provided program master scheduling, budgeting and construction management for 31 campuses. The projects included a high school swimming pool, two high school performing arts center, four middle school gymnasiums and two elementary schools. Both Lang Ranch Elementary School and Sycamore Elementary School accommodate approximately 635 K-5 students. The projects were delivered using both single-prime and multiple-prime project delivery methods.

Exceptional Scheduling and Plan Reviews
Vanir's value engineering, change order negotiation and schedule analysis for the entire program kept the program running smoothly and meeting all project objectives.

"Vanir helped keep projects on track and budget with scheduling and constructability review services. They have done a great job at protecting the district's interests and maintaining our bottom line."
