State of the Art Student Housing
Cerro Vista (Student Housing I) provides 800 beds in furnished, four bedroom, two bath suites. Each unit is 960 square feet and houses four students. The project broke ground in 2001 and was completed for student occupancy in fall of 2003.

Vanir's Services Bring Project Back on Track
In April 2003, Vanir was asked to evaluate the project after it was clear that the construction was falling substantially behind schedule, with a potential of having to house students off campus.

Our scope of services included:

  • Assessment and status of construction as of April 2003. This included the review of project schedules, schedule updates, related correspondence, change orders and a list of all outstanding issues/claims.
  • The development of a recovery schedule and plan to ensure that the project would be complete on time for the fall 2003 occupancy.

Upon review and acceptance of the study, Vanir was retained to:

  • Evaluate the progress of construction on a daily basis.
  • Develop and submit a weekly status report, including: procurement, construction activities, recommending acceleration strategies, etc.
  • Weekly meetings with the contractor (including owner) to discuss project status and construction schedule activities.
  • Resolution of outstanding claims and change orders.

As a result of Vanir's involvement, the project was completed on time.
