Dubai Region – King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center Program

On June 2009 Vanir received the news about an exciting win for the Dubai office! Vanir has been
selected as the program, project and construction manager for the King Faisal Specialist Hospital
and Research Center expansion project in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. This is the largest expansion in
the history of King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center. Over 30 initial proposals
were submitted for this project, and Vanir was selected over the six short-listed firms that
were interviewed.
Mansour Aliabadi, CEO/President of Vanir Construction Management, Inc. has recently returned from
a trip to Saudi Arabia with an update on Vanir’s largest international client.
While in Jeddah, Wednesday, July 8, 2009, Mansour and Basel Habbal (Area Manager/Associate)
met with His Excellency, Dr. Fahad Al-AbdulJabbar, Chairman, and Board of Directors of
King Faisal Hospital to sign a Letter of Agreement for the new expansion of King Faisal
Specialist Hospital and Research Center – Jeddah Branch.
This new and exciting opportunity consists of various projects in multiple phases, with
projects located in two locations of Saudi Arabia. Highlights of the program includes
the following projects:
General Services Administration (GSA) Contract
November 2008
Vanir has been awarded a GSA contract, effective November 24, 2008, that
is valid until November 23, 2013. This contract will assist in marketing
federal projects.
Dubai Waterfront Project - Al Maraya
October 2008
Vanir has been selected by United Overseas Developers, FZC (UOD) to provide project
and construction management services for the waterfront project, Al Maraya. The project
will consist of 3-4 basements for car parking and services, retail at ground level,
duplex row villettes above retail, a residential tower with mainly three and four
bedroom apartments, a few two bedroom apartments, penthouses, a commercial tower with
offices, and health and leisure facilities.
Located on 165,464 sq. ft., this project has been designed for mixed-use and will
have a contemporary yet timeless style. UOD is aiming to achieve LEED Gold for this
project, through a functional, economical, and easily constructible design. The project
budget is $250 million and it is expected to be completed by December 2011.
City of La Mesa New Police Facility
October 2008
Vanir has been selected to provide construction management services for the City's new police
facility, which includes over 83,600 square feet of parking, offices and other "Essential Facility"
spaces, and new infrastructure and site improvements. Construction of this LEED facility started in
September 2008 and will extend into early 2010. Construction cost for the police facility is $15 million.
California Theater - Fire Suppression System
October 2008
The Economic Development Agency of the City of San Bernardino has selected Vanir for engineering,
design and construction management services on the historic California Theater project. This project
is to install a complete automatic fire sprinkler protection service. This theater was built in 1928
and is approximately 30,000 sq. ft. Rolf Jensen & Associates and STK Architecture are part of the Vanir team.
