Fast-Track Delivery

Vanir's project management services led to the successful completion of a new facility to house the rapidly expanding needs for records and statistics storage. "Fast-track" is often used to describe the overlapping of various contracts and time savings for the project. In this case, the term would be “fast-faster-fastest-track.”

A Unique Urgency Demanded Unique Methods

"Y2K" (the threat of computer problems at the turn of the millennium) was a major concern for the County Recorder, and placed an absolutely steadfast completion and operation deadline. Several "out-of-the-box" steps were taken First the County received the first-ever legislative authority to utilize the design-build method of project delivery. Then programming of user needs was established in broad conceptual terms and then finalized as design progressed.

The design-build team was selected based on very limited performance documents and worked with the management team to resolve all issues. The final site configuration and extent was negotiated as the design progressed, and construction started just three months after the design-build team was selected and a "bonus-penalty" clause was utilized. The seamless efforts of the County, Project Manager and Design-Builder resulted in producing the project in a record time of nine months.

Satisfied Client Leads to Subsequent Work

Based on the success of our working relationship, the County selected Vanir to provide project and construction management services for its next major design-build project. Bigger and more complex in many ways, the new $176 million juvenile detention facility became our next success story.
